Community Justice Center

Studio 4A | Woodbury School of Architecture

ARCH 401 | Fall 2021

Instructor: Eric Olsen

Located in Los Angeles CA, at 400 S Central Ave, the project is designed for the community. The main focus of the project is to have justice be transparent. This project is designed to give people guidance, support and fair treatment. It is a neighborhood justice center that will create a new strategy for how justice is served. People from community will gather to discuss alternative ways for how someone can provide a service for the community and if needed also get help while they work out their legal case. Just as how justice should be transparent the overall building has a transparent facade. The overall project derives from the axis of the streets. It slants with the axis to create a continuous motion from the street to the inside of the building. The top half also slants at an angle to follow the suns path throughout the year.
